Ten Days of Easter: Day Two

It is Palm Sunday today: the beginning of Holy Week. This morning, I read my daughters the story of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem (Luke 19:28-40). I used the story from The Children’s Bible Storybook.

We needed a quickie craft which we would be able to do before we had to leave for church. I saw a picture of wooden peg donkeys on Pinterest that I thought were cute and didn’t look too complicated. I pre-cut the cardboard, wool and grey felt.

My eldest coloured the pegs herself. We used grey wax crayons, though koki pens would probably work as well.

Then we glued the felt to either side of the cardboard. I helped her stick the googly eyes on and attach the mane and tail.

My youngest daughter wasn’t too focused when we began the activity. It was only toward the end that she realised something interesting was happening at the table.

And, voila! Donkeys for Palm Sunday. The entire activity took about 15 minutes.
