I think I found this craft via Pinterest, but I forgot to make note of the page. I couldn’t remember the exact details of the craft, so I adapted it slightly to do with my girls.
Piece of cardboard
Piece of tinsel/sparkly pipe cleaner/glitter
Angie made two yellow handprints on her piece of cardboard, with the fingers pointing outward. Emmy was very interested in what her sister was doing, but when it came time for her to put paint on her hands, she decided she wasn’t that interested after all.
When the paint was dry, Angie made a pink footprint in the centre of the hands, with the toes pointing down.
When the paint was dry, I drew eyes, nose and a mouth on the heel of the footprint with the marker. Then Angie glued wool for the angel’s hair and used glitter for the halo.
I reminded them how the angels appeared to shepherds in a field to announce the birth of Jesus. I asked them to imagine a whole choir of angels and how that would sound. Then we sang “Hallelujah! Hosanna!”
Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others – the armies of heaven – praising God and saying, “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” – Luke 2:13-14
