The girls know that come Christmas morning, they’ll be unwrapping presents under the tree. I want them to understand that Christmas is more than just receiving, and that they have a very special gift that they can give.
A plain piece of A4 cardboard (per child)
An A5 heart (per child)
Gift tag (per child)
The girls decorated one side of the A4 cardboard.
Then I folded it in half and glued the short edges closed, and punch a hole in the open edge. While I did that, the girls decorated their hearts. Then they made a gift tag with Jesus’ name on it.
When everything was dry, they put the hearts inside the gift bag, threaded it closed with ribbon, and stuck the gift tag on.
I spoke about how Jesus is God’s very special gift to the world, and that He is the reason we celebrate Christmas. I told them God gave us Jesus because He loves us so much, and all He wants from us is our hearts.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16
