One still, quiet night by the light of the moon,
An angel appeared in Mary’s room.
“Do not be afraid,” the angel began,
“You are part of God’s special plan.”
Mary could hardly believe her ears.
She took a deep breath to calm her fears.
“If it’s as you say, then let it be so,
I am God’s servant, this you know.”
One still, quiet night Joseph fretted and paced
Then an angel arrived and his heart raced.
“Mary is God’s chosen one.
She will bear His holy son.”
The angel’s words eased Joseph’s mind;
He would still make Mary his bride.
In time they journeyed to Bethlehem
But found no room in any inn.
One still, quiet night in David’s town
From a stable came a sound:
A baby’s cry, loud and clear,
His mother singing, “Hush, my dear.”
None but animals witnessed the birth
As God came down from heaven to earth.
His cradle was a manger small;
A humble beginning for the King of all.
One still, quiet night by the light of a star,
Wise men travelled from lands afar.
They came to see the newborn king;
On their knees they worshipped him.
Frankincense, gold and myrrh they brought,
Gifts for the king whom they had sought.
The star that led them shining bright,
A beacon in the dark of night.
One still, quiet night out in a field
A choir of angels suddenly appeared.
“Hallelujah! Hosanna!” they sang for joy,
Announcing the birth of the baby boy.
When the shepherds got over their fright,
They set out on that holy night
To see for themselves what God had done:
The promise of eternity in His own Son.
One still, quiet night in a manger bed
Mary kissed her newborn’s head.
What were her thoughts that special night
As angels sang and the star glowed bright,
As shepherds watched and wise men bowed,
And God’s glory shone all ’round?
One still, quiet night that changed history,
The way to God no longer a mystery.
Jesus Christ, the perfect Lamb,
The Son of God, the Great I AM.
A Christmas gift for all who believe
And salvation in Jesus then receive.
Peace and grace and love and light
Promised to us that still, quiet night.
