{Homeschooling} Week 9 – Learning The Letter B

{Homeschooling} Week 9 - Learning The Letter B

It has been HOT here this week. I think spring decided it would rather be somewhere else this year, and so we went straight into summer. We’ve been starting school a bit earlier, so that by the time it gets really hot (and the girls’ start going a bit crazy), we’ve finished the lesson and they can play.

“Mommy, we’re pretending it’s winter. Brr!”

We worked on the letter B and the sight word ‘can’ this week. (Find Reading the Alphabet – B here and Learning the Alphabet – B here.)

I used some of the maths worksheets and number wheel from 1 plus 1 plus 1 equals 1.

I also used this bug pack from 3 Dinosaurs for Emmy.

As a treat, we took the girls to see Maya The Bee. It’s a great film for kids – absolutely nothing dodgy in it. Maya is immediately likeable, with an unquenchable curiosity. I also liked the message that everyone has a purpose. The girls loved the movie, and have been talking about it all week.

I made this bee counting activity for the girls.

And I also made this banana math worksheet to introduce them to the concepts of greater than, less than and equal to.

Our craft of the week was these cute ballerina tutus I saw at Meet The Dubiens. We had a lot of fun making them.
