You’re four at last! You’ve been counting down for at least a month now, asking, “Is it my birthday yet?” every few days and giving a big sigh when the answer was no. But today, finally, the wait is over.
Yes, sweet girl, you’re a big girl now.
You are already so independent. We’re not allowed to help you with anything, and you have a very clear idea of the way things must be. You still like routine, and knowing what’s supposed to happen. You are still an early bird, but now you can entertain yourself until the rest of the family wakes up.
You are a wonderful sister, both to Angie – even though you drive her nuts the way younger siblings do – and to Rafe, whom you adore. “I just can’t stop kissing him,” is something we hear a lot of from you.
You love school, and you keep asking me to give you more work when you finish the day’s activities. You like building puzzles, and acting out scenes from your favourite movies, and drawing Rapunzel over and over again.
I am so impressed by how you’ve memorised your Scripture verses, and details of the stories I read you – which shows me you are listening even though you’re attempting circus tricks on the couch.
You bring so much joy and laughter to our family, and we love you so much.
Happy birthday, precious girl.
