Hymn Study Made Easy | Timeless Hymns For All Ages

Hymn study has become a vital part of our homeschool day. We include it in our Morning Time, just after our Bible reading and Scripture memorisation. The hymns I love today are the ones I learned as a child, and I hope that my children will commit to their hearts the hymns that we sing together. Hymns are really one of the best ways of writing Scripture on your heart.

Judy Hoch of Contented At Home has released Timeless Hymns For All Ages {Vol. 1}, the first in a series of hymn study collections designed especially for Christian homeschooling families. This 264-page ebook covers six of the most-loved hymns of all time:

  • What A Friend We Have In Jesus
  • The Old Rugged Cross
  • It Is Well With My Soul
  • Take My Life And Let It Be
  • Amazing Grace
  • Blessed Assurance

The ebook includes everything you need to study a hymn:

  • Hymn history
  • Lyrics
  • Sheet music
  • Listening links
  • Vocabulary words from the hymns
  • Review questions
  • Copywork and notebooking pages
  • Related Scripture for memorisation and copywork

We received a copy Timeless Hymns For All Ages {Vol. 1} to review. It is an excellent resource for homeschoolers looking for a hymn study. The historical information is brief enough to inform but not overwhelm with too many facts. This is particularly helpful with three kids under seven (and not-very-long attention spans!). The inclusion of links to listen to the hymns is helpful, and I like the suggested review questions and learning activities. The hymn study is simple to use and requires very little preparation.

  • I am interested in this book, but I was wondering is it really 264 pages for 6 hymns or was that a typo? It sounds long for 6 hymns…great idea and I like the idea of adding hymn study to our scripture study.
